Self portrait: tea for two and two for tea

I woke up yesterday morning knowing that there was no way I was going to work. I felt: Rotten. Then E woke up and she felt poorly. My sick day was co-opted in favor of her sick day.

One oh-so-fun visit to the pediatrician later, E has been diagnosed with yet another double ear infection and a hefty round of Amoxycillin, The Wonder Drug. The doctor said, "E, your ears are really annoying me!" and for his aggravation we get to go see an ENT specialist at the end of this dose of antibiotics.

But, two rounds of Wonder Drug later, E feels fine again and she went off to school today, leaving me finally to have my sick day in peace. I took a nap from 11am to 3pm today, and it was one of the nicest things I've done for me in a long time.

But even my delayed-gratification sick day had to be truncated, because the girls' daycare closed early due to a lack of staff due to the weather (the same weather President Obama laughed at Washington's wussiness for (and rightly so)). So my girls came home early, full of Energy! And New Toys! One of the boys in E's class had missed her birthday party on Sunday because he was sick but gave her a gift today. It is a very pink tea set, and when E opened it in the family room right in front of me as I was drinking actual tea at that exact moment, the concordance was squeal-worthy.

Yes, I drink tea by the beer-stein-ful. And on the right is the service I was asked to pour for my younger child, per my older child's very specific instructions. The stickers on my arm are "medicines" to make me feel better. I think they're working.

E repeatedly referred to the cream as sour cream and the sugar as salt but no matter how many times I poured a cuppa with sour cream and salt her sister thought it was the most delicious tea ever, and made the same appreciative lip smacking sounds she makes when she wants to nurse. It's probably because of the blend E prepared for us: I was having some Lady Gray, how dull and conventional; but the girls were enjoying some chocolate ice cream chapstick lotion pudding tea. Cheers!
