Uh-huh, Uh-huh (I like it)

Tonight we had dinner at one of those corporate franchises masquerading as a throwback diner. During dinner E made three trips to the restroom and I had the pleasure three times of accompanying her. Only one of those trips resulted in needing to pull the flush lever but that's not to say that the other two visits were fruitless, because tonight E discovered the phenomenon of piped-in music.

As an aside, if you give any considerable thought the the invention known as the travel potty travel seat, is there anything more disgusting? We carry this folded plastic thing with Dora the Explorer printed on it around in our diaper bag. We pull it out and parade it through a crowded restaurant. (Be we, I mean E. She walks like a ring bearer at a wedding, yelling to those who will catch her eye as well as those who'd like to pretend there's no such thing as children, I got Dora on my potty seat!) We rest Dora like a throne on seat after seat of the loveliest public toilets, and accord just as much pomp and circumstance to each visit's recessional. Really, there just isn't enough Purel in Maryland for this to be okay.

So when on one of our visits tonight E exclaimed with delight, there's music, Mama! Let's dance while I put my pee-pees in the pot!, I mentally congratulated myself that I'd guided us the the handicapped-accessible stall, the Presidential Suite of Potty Training. So I showed her my best stall-wall-delimited Hustle as I karaoked the ceiling lyrics for her entertainment.

That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh, I like it!
That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh, I like it!

And she bounced on her Dora so happily that I threw in the

ooh ee ooh ee ooh oo ooh ee ooh

and when the lyrics resumed E was familiar enough to join in and she added: That's the way I pee in the pot you like it! Uh-huh UH-HUH! I pee in the pot I pee in the pot YOU LIKE IT! UH-HUH UH-HUH!

The burst of muffled giggles we heard next let me know that we weren't, as I had mistakenly believed, the only people in the restroom.
